Mathematics has long been regarded as an essential part of any career path which has a strong technical content, in addition, its strong focus on logic and a systematic approach to problem solving have given it relevance to virtually any university application. A Level Mathematics is not a narrow field confined to those who wish to pursue the subject as a career. It provides a wealth of powerful tools and problem solving techniques which underlie much of modern day science, engineering, information technology, finance, software development, architecture, design and manufacturing. It is widely regarded by the university communities as a qualification which demonstrates quality of thinking, discipline in research and the application of rigorous organisation. The course is based on a mix of classroom lessons and private study, with a strong focus on developing analytical thought, rigour and problem solving. Lesson activities will include both independent and group work and IT will be used where appropriate.
