You can choose between a one and two year course. After having completed the one year course, which is equivalent to 1/1.5 A Levels, you can then progress on to the second year, which is equivalent to 3 A Levels. This course will allow you to explore a wide variety of hands-on photography and video production activities that will develop and build your natural artistic abilities. You will undertake a range of projects that explore concept development, pre-visualisation, shooting, and editing and you will learn to use Adobe Photoshop, Premier, and After Effects for editing and special effects. This course also explores the history of film and photography, from the first photography to contemporary special effects. In the second year you will specialise in your chosen area of lens based media and you will build on your existing skills to reach an advanced level. You will be encouraged to take an experimental and open-minded approach to exploring ideas which challenge and develop creative thinking and making skills. We have great facilities here at Croydon School of Art, including a photographic darkroom, many Mac suites, and video and film editing facilities with great technical support. You will be taught by film and TV specialists and industry practitioners who use their breadth of knowledge to support your studies. Good English and maths skills are essential for success in studying and for future employment prospects and so Croydon College ensures that these skills are developed in all learning opportunities.
