You will continue to build on your existing watercolour skills. By working through a range of techniques, you will produce practice watercolour studies leading to a final exhibition piece for public critique and submission to the Learner Celebration Event in July. Techniques may include: How to work with both a limited pallet and an extensive range of colour options. Use of monochromatic underpainting and exploring mixed media. Making decisions about composition and colour value before you start painting and evaluating these decisions upon completion. Extend your skills in subduing subtle colours based on the subject matter. Use judgements about composition, blend techniques and peer comments to improve and reflect on an exhibition work. The group will work on complex and detailed subjects such as sculpture, objet d'art, birds, animals and other animated objects on a landscape, seascape or cityscape background. Images of people from international cultures may be used to ensure you have a thorough knowledge of how to blend colours to match skin types or traditional textured clothing e.g. jewelled saris.
