Economics

UPDATED 20160317 10:20:43

Economics is an exciting and dynamic social science which examines how individuals, governments and societies make choices given scarce resources. It is used to analyse a host of global and topical problems. Economics is best thought of, as one economist joked, as 'What Economists Do'. In 'Business Economics and Distribution of Income', you will learn how firms set objectives, costs and revenues; looking at competitive markets and marketing strategies. You then move onto concentrated markets and the labour market, and finally how governments can intervene in these more complex markets. In 'The National and International Economy' you will develop your macroeconomic knowledge from AS to include macroeconomic indicators, how we manage the national economy and then place it in context of the international economies.
