The course is designed to provide an introduction to the skills and working approaches needed to study an Art Foundation programme. It provides an opportunity to experiment with a wide range of materials, techniques and creative approaches to making art, to develop skills, knowledge and critical awareness in a range of fine art disciplines, including Painting, Drawing and Mixed Media, Printmaking and Sculpture. Specialist tutors in each subject area will offer support and guidance. The emphasis is on practical work, using a sketchbook, project work and portfolio building. The course is suitable for those who wish to build up experience, or a portfolio of work for application to University and provides an excellent preparation for the Art Foundation Diploma, which runs from September each year. Entry to the course is by interview/ portfolio.
