What will I do on this study programme? Would you like to learn how to apply make-up and style hair for fashion, beauty, editorial looks? Level 2 Hair and Make-up is a one year course designed for those with little to no experience, who want to gain the knowledge and skills required for a career in the make-up industry. This study programme has been specifically designed to develop your knowledge and practical skills through the study of the following mandatory units the art of photographic make-up, create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector and following health and safety practices. In addition, you can choose from the following optional units depending on your desired career path application of skin tanning, creative themed face painting, artistic skill of nail art or body art design, client consultation for hair services, colour and lighten hair, creating permanent curls using perming techniques, cut women's hair, the dexterous skill of plaiting and twisting hair. You will further develop your knowledge and apply the skills you have learned through working in a real life commercial salon and attending work placements throughout the year. In addition, tutorial support, personal and social development, and Maths and English development are fundamental elements of this study programme and will be embedded into your vocational learning. If you do not have a grade C in Maths and/or English you will attend a discrete GCSE or Functional skills class as part of your weekly timetable. Over 19s completing this qualification will also have the opportunity to complete a Retail Skills Certificate, which is compatible with the Apprenticeship framework. How will I be assessed? We will assess you all through the year with online tests, practical work, assignments and projects.
