This BSc (Hons) in Equitation Science focuses on the unique, varied and exciting area of equitation science and is designed for those who wish to further their knowledge of equitation and horse welfare. This course continually appraises and evaluates aspects of equitation that have become established over many years. Emphasis is placed on developing an ability to critically evaluate equestrian practice, in particular in relation to training and equitation in order to advance practice within equestrianism. This programme will provide you with access to the latest research findings from all over the world. Students undertaking this Bachelors programme will be able to rise to challenge of dealing with and solving equid-related physical, behavioural and psychological problems exhibited in novel contexts on both a theoretical and practical basis. Graduating students will possess advanced research skills and be proficient in addressing unique questions and challenging situations. BSc (Hons) Equitation Science graduates will be capable of both advanced practice and advanced scholarship, and will be capable of further independent research in areas such as training techniques and equid welfare with any equestrian discipline and at any level. The programme includes a substantial honours project enabling students to carry out a detailed investigation of an area of their choice within the equitation science discipline. Where appropriate, projects will also be supported by industry professionals and leading international equitation science practitioners. Other areas covered in this programme include equitation science, veterinary issues, advanced equine learning and psychology, the science of rider performance and personal development within the equestrian sphere.
