As both human activities and environmental processes increase the demand being placed on coastal and marine resources, a need has arisen for skilled individuals to redress the balance in these highly sensitive ecosystems. Our BSc (Hons) Marine Biology and Coastal Zone Management and preparatory Foundation Degree are vocational programmes that deliver skills in marine sciences and environmental management for ultimate employment within these areas. The career opportunities are diverse and graduates have progressed to employment with a host of environmental agencies and companies, namely Natural England, North West Fisheries, APEM Ltd Environmental Consultants and Merlin Entertainment (Sealife Centre). Postgraduate study and teaching are also popular.
