Apart from being interesting, studying History is also very useful. If you have a qualification in History, people will know that you have taken on certain key skills which can be applied to a wide variety of situations. Studying History will help you develop practical skills that are valuable in a range of jobs. You will develop an appreciation for the impact of the interaction, motives and emotions of people and learn about countries and societies to understand how current conflicts have roots in the past. Specific Entry Requirements: C grade in GCSE History. What will I learn? You will learn both British and modern European history covering the Tudor period 1485-1603, Germany 1918 -1945 and Russia 1856-1964. You will discover how turbulent these time periods were as all of these countries experimented with new religious and political ideas and were affected by radical change. You will study two examined options: the Tudors 1485-1603 and Germany 1918-1945 (each worth 40% of the overall A Level grade). There is also a 20% non-examination component (Russia) to assess how well you can work independently to research an historical enquiry.
