Name: Music Qualification title: BTEC National Extended Certificate in Music Qualification type: GCE A/AS Level or equivalent Assessment Assessment is specifically designed to fit the purpose and objective of the qualification. It includes a range of assessment types and styles suited to vocational qualifications in the sector. There are three main forms of assessment that you need to be aware of: external, internal and synoptic. External Assessment  examinations – all learners take the same assessment at the same time, normally with a written outcome  set tasks – learners take the assessment during a defined window and demonstrate understanding through completion of a vocational task. Assessments are marked externally. Internal Assessment Most units are internally assessed and subject to external standards verification. Synoptic Assessment This type of assessment requires learners to demonstrate that they can identify and use effectively, in an integrated way, an appropriate selection of skills, techniques, concepts, theories and knowledge from across the whole sector as relevant to a key task. Normally, a synoptic assessment is one that a learner would take later in a programme as they are expected to be able to draw on a range of learning. Synoptic units may be internally or externally assessed. Awarding Pearson Education Ltd (Formerly EDEXCEL) Created 20160322 09:05:43 Updated 20161102 10:15:08
