The GCSE mathematics course requires studying number, algebra, geometry and measures, probability and statistics. By studying mathematics students develop analytical skills and an analytical attitude and learn to pay attention to all the assumptions involved in a given problem or situation. Students learn to break down a complicated problem into a series of smaller steps. The skills developed during this course are increasingly important in the workplace and in higher education. GCSE mathematics will help you to develop these essential skills. Many subjects including geography, biology, history and business studies recognise the importance of statistics. Many roles in today's workplace require budget management and problem solving skills. The structure of GCSE mathematics is outlined below and students will be given the opportunity to sit the exam in the November and June of Year 12.
