Are you creative? Sociable? Interested in technology? Interested in the media? Curious? Want to work in a TV or radio studio? Interested in design or photography? Then this is the course for you! On this course, you will work on a variety of exciting projects developing new programmes for TV or radio, designing web sites, designing magazine double page spreads, DVD covers, flyers, using digital SLR's to photograph on location or in the studio and using Apple Macs to edit film and sound. The course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to progress to University or enter the industry. You'll visit the Phoenix Square Cinema in Leicester, participate in our community radio station Wiggle, visit exhibitions and take on media jobs both within and outside of college. You'll also work in our very own TV and radio studios and see your work posted on our own YouTube channel and write or take photographs for our in house student magazine. Part of the course also involves studying UK film, this will help you to develop a range of media technical and production skills. During the year a variety of media professionals will be invited into college to share their media experiences with you. Some of the units covered on this course: - Video production and Editing -TV and Film production - Music radio -Photography In addition, in the introductory units you'll learn how to use the equipment and how to plan and develop your ideas for exciting new media products. We run a series of taster session during the year for you to come and have a go, to see if this is the right choice for you. After successful completion of this course, you can study creative media or a specialist subject at university, degree courses can include Media production, Photography, Broadcast TV, Journalism, Sound Engineering and Film Production.

All units are assessed through assignment work either individually or in groups. There are no exams. Whilst taking one of our full-time courses you will also complete a programme of Functional Skills which could comprise of a combination of English, Math and ICT.
