In this course, you will learn how to combine paint and print to make striking visual images which, if you wish, can be used to create original gifts and greeting cards, as well as being mixed media works in their own right. Through a series of workshops and art activities you will be taught how to collect and sort visual information, create compositions, make stencils and lino cuts, and use water based paint to add additional colour and interest. You will work from a varied selection of primary and secondary sources and there will be scope for you to bring your own areas of interest to the sessions. Returning students from the previous courses will develop their skills further. By the end of the course you should be able to, - Understand the principles of printmaking, - Use drawing and collage to generate ideas, - Make, and use, a stencil to add colour to a printed image, - Combine print with paint and colour in an experimental way , - Make and print from a lino cut, - Work to health and safety guidelines There is no set 'homework', but you are welcome to practise and do further work at home. There is no qualification for this course. This course is for anyone who thinks that they might enjoy an experimental approach to printmaking and painting and wants to have a go. It is suitable for beginners and those with a little experience.
