Is this course for me? An A-Level in a Modern Foreign Language is suitable if you: • Have an interest in, and enjoy learning languages. • Have appreciated both the opportunity to express yourself and master the grammar learnt at GCSE. • Are interested in exploring other cultures, or wish to experience other countries in the future. • Foresee a future career in any of the wide variety of careers where speaking a foreign language is advantageous, or would like to live and work abroad. What will I learn? Social Issues and Trends: Aspects of target language-speaking society Multiculturalism in the target language-speaking society Political and Artistic Culture: Artistic culture in the target language-speaking world Aspects of political life in the target language-speaking world Grammar: Comprehensive range of grammatical understanding developed. Works: Study of EITHER: One literary text and one film in the target language. OR Two literary texts in the target language. Individual Research Project: Students identify, research and develop their own project on a topic of their choice relating to a country where the target language is spoken. This may or may not relate to one of the sub-topics listed above.
