This part time foundation course will introduce you to the value of art making in mental and emotional health. It covers the basic principles of Art Therapy practice and will provide an opportunity for you to explore, develop and connect with the therapeutic benefits of image making using a range of art materials. You will gain further insight into your own creative process, and the course provides a good grounding for future training in the profession of Art Therapy. No previous formal experience of art making is necessary; however, willingness to explore using different art materials is a requirement. Experiential learning is an integral part of the course. The course is run by two experienced and HCPC registered Art Therapists and includes visiting lecturers. Experience gained during this course can be used to go on to further training or to inform other areas of working life together with gaining greater insight and understanding into creative communications. This course is run within the Art & Design department of City of Bath College and the College also has a well equipped library and learning resources centre. Places on the course are subject to interview with the course tutors.
