OCR A Level: Art & Design Fine Art

UPDATED 20161003 12:14:16

In the first year students create a portfolio of coursework in response to a number of themes. As part of their planning students are expected to research contexts, observe and record relevant sources, analyse and evaluate their own and others work, explore media, develop and refine their ideas and realise their intentions with a number of finished 2D or 3D pieces. These projects are set by the centre and provide opportunities for students to develop skills in a wide variety of media and understanding in a range of contexts. As the course develops students are expected to exercise their own artistic choices including planning their own personal investigations which contributes to their coursework submission in year 13. In the final stage of the course students use the same working practices to respond to an externally set exam paper, creating preparation work which informs the final timed 15 hour exam piece.
