The qualification not only offers opportunities for employment in the horticulture industry, but also enables the learner to begin to specialise in their area of interest. The qualification consists of 5 units covering the following subject areas: - Collecting and testing soil samples and specifying adjustments for horticulture - Collecting, preparing and propagating from seed - Establishing and maintaining a range of plant types and forms - Identification of a range of common garden plants, weeds, pests, diseases and disorders - Management of green spaces, landscaped areas and ornamental gardens Assessment Learners are assessed throughout the course by a combination of practical assessments, identification tests, assignment work and written knowledge tests. Final Award On successful completion of the course learners will be awarded the RHS Level 3 Certificate in Practical Horticulture. Equipment As this is a very practical course you will need to provide yourself with the following items of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): safety boots and work or gardening gloves. You will also need a pair of secateurs.
