The Further Mathematics course is a demanding and challenging accelerated A Level course, in which you will study two A Levels in the time normally allocated to a single A Level. It is aimed at students who relish a challenge and are especially keen on the subject but who are also prepared to work hard and persevere. The Further Maths course introduces many new topics such as matrices, differential equations and imaginary numbers that are vital in many Mathematics-related degrees. Suitability for Further Mathematics will be assessed early in the course. At this point further advice and guidance will be provided on an individual basis as to whether single or double mathematics is the more appropriate course. As part of the course you may be invited to take part in the UK Senior Maths Challenge competition in both Year 12 and 13. This is a highly respected and nationally recognised mathematical problem solving competition.
