During the course you will undertake a number of practical and theory units, which will give you a broad understanding and develop your skills in a range of different media related fields. These include making a music video, a radio drama, and a corporate video, as well as researching and studying the creative media sector. The are a number of collaborations that you will be involved in such as shooting a drama with the Performing Arts students, as well as having the challenge of responding to live briefs for real clients both internal and external to the college. To enable you to respond to these live briefs we are extremely well resourced with professional cameras, edit suites, a radio studio and a television studio. These live briefs will get taken to the extreme as we have won the rights to have first refusal to make all of the adverts to be broadcast on a new local TV station (which will be broadcast locally on Freeview Channel 8). Therefore you will have the opportunity to actually produce work for TV, which makes this a very exciting time to join the course. By the end of this course, as well as the qualification you will have developed an extensive portfolio of professional work, which will help you be ready for your next step, whether it be university or employment in the media industries. Abingdon and Witney College have well established links with creative and cultural industries within Oxfordshire and beyond. We use these links to ensure you get a real-world experience and exposure as an emerging Creative.
