Patchwork and Quilting - How to Design Your Own Quilt

Suitable for people who have done Sampling the Quilt Term 1 or 2 or have made other quilts elsewhere. This will be a design based class with lots of support, inspiration and design tricks.

Name: Patchwork and Quilting - How to Design Your Own Quilt Qualification title: Non regulated Community Learning provision, Crafts, Creative Arts and Design Qualification type: Assessment We will explore: Colour and fabric choices. Different ways of using specialist and basic equipment. Various design techniques for drawing up a quilt design. Demonstrations, worksheet instructions and class member discussions. Extra worksheets on Moodle the college/student access pages. Possible exhibiting opportunities - maybe an end of year class exhibition. Entry requirements

Note pad - preferably A4 lined. Writing equipment and ruler. A4 plastic pockets and file or integrated plastic wallet file Sewing kit pins, needles, scissors, etc. You will need 2-3 meters of fabric for the first term sampler quilt. Please bring a small amount of 3 colours or patterns you might like to include in your work to the first class. The quilt will work best with at least 6 different fabrics.
