This course explores the transition from Realism to Abstraction and the process., It looks at the Formal Elements of Tone, Line, Shape, Texture and Colour and their role ., Contemporary Artist reference will be used for inspiration, style and ideas ., Students will cover a variety of Drawing and Painting techniques relevant to the tasks. Those with some experience of basic drawing and painting skills.

Entry requirements

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound, and a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Some of our centres have their own 'shops' where you are able to buy materials at competitive prices. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
