You'll study towards an NVQ Level 5 in Construction Management (Sustainability) and a Higher National Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment. You'll have the opportunity to specialise in one of three pathways: construction and the built environment, building services engineering or civil engineering. You'll have the opportunity to apply critical reasoning and analysis techniques to solve built environment and engineering problems using industry standards, appropriate codes of practice and work-based evidence. Fundamental aspects of designing, creating and conserving the built environment will form a key part of the course, with a need for assessment of the environmental impact at work. You'll study a variety of modules depending on the pathway you choose including: • sustainable construction • design and management principles • energy utilisation and efficiency • environmental management • measuring, tendering and estimating • site surveying • science and materials • health, safety and welfare • applied mathematics • site surveying procedures • civil engineering technology • structural analysis and design • heating and air conditioning
