This course will develop your knowledge of working in health and social care and children and young people's settings and prepare you for Level 2 study. You will develop a range of skills and techniques essential for working successfully with children and young people. The course is suitable for school leavers who would like a career in children and young people's services or in health and social care and wish to progress to Level 2 study. You will study: * Safeguarding * Communication * Healthy Eating * Children and Young Peoples Development You will have the opportunity of completing work experience with children and young people, or in a care setting. You will also study a range of units aimed at improving employability and personal development skills. All students aged 16-19 are required to study Functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE maths and English if not already awarded a grade C/4 or higher in these subjects. If you have a grade D/3 at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE to support working towards a C grade. Students with a grade lower than D/3 will work towards GCSE through the study of maths and English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment.
