As an Apprentice you really do get the best of both worlds; you will earn a salary and gain real experience in the workplace with your employer as well as working towards a nationally recognised NVQ and other qualifications. Apprenticeships are suitable for well-motivated people who are focussed and know which career path they want to follow. They offer high quality work-based training as an alternative to full time study. This programme is aimed at people who are employed, or are seeking employment. You will need to be 16 years of age or over. Apprenticeships are available at level 2 and level 3. * Employment should be for a minimum of 30 hours per week, with training in the workplace * Assessor visits in the workplace every 3 - 4 weeks * Functional Skills level 2 maths, English and ICT * Employment Rights and Responsibilities Mandatory units for this course include: * Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults * Schools as organisations * Support learning activities * Promote children and young people's positive behaviour * Develop professional relationships with children, young people and adults * Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people * Support assessment for learning * Understand child and young person development * Engage in personal development in health, social care or children's and young people's settings * Understand how to safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people * Support children and young people's health and safety You will also choose optional units. Some examples include: * Support literacy development * Support numeracy development * Plan and deliver learning activities under the direction of a teacher
