Myerscough College is pleased to offer a new specialism within our popular Sports Studies portfolio; the launch of our new Myerscough Basketball Academy. Basketball is a rapidly growing sport in the UK and gaining in popularity in line with the rest of Europe. With excellent academic and sporting links at home and abroad, Myerscough aims to deliver in the class-room as well as on court - to help our student athletes reach their goals. This is reinforced through excellent links with the higher education sector at home and a range of overseas institutions. The College offers a unique opportunity to study at level 3 (A level equivalent) for students who wish to develop a comprehensive understanding of basketball and high performance sports. Basketball studies at Myerscough College will give students the opportunity to gain academic knowledge as well as be in a basketball environment like no other; supported by the Manchester Giants (BBL), MLP Academics Heidelberg (German Pro A), a host of American Colleges as well as the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). Students will be given every possible basketball opportunity, which will link directly to their academic studies. Students will be involved in a course which will incorporate classroom lectures, practical sessions and industry visits which will be supported by professional players and coaches. As a course equivalent to A Level the Level 3 BTEC Diploma is an ideal spring board for progression to a Foundation Degree or Full Degree depending on UCAS points gained. Myerscough College offers Foundation Degrees, with Honours progression, in Sport and Exercise Sciences, Sports Coaching or Health and Personal Training. Professional playing careers and work within the sports sector.
