The course is for anyone who has an interest in painting and decorating skills. It will appeal to students who enjoy carrying out practical work, who will follow tutor demonstrations then work independently to practice new skills. You will study 12 units comprising of 6 practical units, 6 theory units (which include 6 unit end tests and 1 synoptic test). The Diploma level 1 introduces you safe working practices in the construction industry. You will practice skills in preparing surfaces ready for decoration; applying paint by roller and brush; applying foundation and plain papers; and producing decorative finishes. Throughout the course you will be working towards the preparation and painting of flush doors and hanging wallpaper.
