This course is suitable for anyone wanting to learn more about a career within the Beauty and Nail Sector and to develop basic skills in Beauty Therapy. This course is suitable for anyone holding the Award in Working in the Beauty Sector or equivalent. A good standard of literacy is required. If English is not your first language ESOL Level 1 is required. You will explore job roles and career opportunities for Working in the Beauty Sector. You will gain knowledge of the importance of Presenting a Professional Image within a Salon. You will learn about the structure of the nail and how to prepare for and carry out basic manicure and pedicure techniques. You will be taught through tutor demonstrations and lectures, you will be given useful handouts and complete task booklets, you will also complete assignments and practical assessments. Assessment will be continuous. Your Tutor will assess your progress and understanding through practical observation and you will build a portfolio of evidence. You will gain the City & Guilds Level 1 Certificate - Introduction to the Hair & Beauty Sector. You will gain the City & Guilds Level 1 Certificate - Introduction to the Hair & Beauty Sector. You will need to bring a folder to build your evidence. You may also need facial sponges, a towel, a head band, some make-up brushes and nail polish for carrying out practical activities. Your tutor will advise each week of any additional items you may need. Identify course requirements, and assessment criteria. Understand the importance of Health & Safety and contra-indications relevant to the treatment. The structure of the nail and basic manicure and pedicure techniques. You will complete a portfolio of evidence and end test. Additional Requirements: Professional dress or black clothing, closed toe shoes. All visible jewellery including facial piercings must be removed. A good standard of personal hygiene. No denim to be worn in the treatment room.
