The course is for beginners who are developing confidence in the language and who would like to further develop confidence in the skills required to communicate at a basic level with Russian speakers. You should have successfully completed an NCL Getting Started course or an equivalent of approximately 20 hours of tuition in the language. You will develop confidence in functional language through a variety of topics and social and cultural aspects of Russia. By hearing spoken Russian and relating to different settings and being required to interact with others using the language you have encountered. You will also carry out some reading and writing activities and work in small and larger groups. You will be continually given developmental feedback on progress throughout the course. The progression course for this is Russian Improvers. Paper and a pen is all that is needed but a course text book is advisable to facilitate independent learning. Common social and cultural settings - free-time activities, holidays in Russian speaking countries, etc. Topics are negotiated with learners at the beginning of the course
