Pilates - Mixed Ability

Pilates is a whole body exercise program designed to strengthen and tone muscles improve flexibility and aid relaxation. You are encouraged to work at your own level and pace progressing exercises when you feel comfortable to do so. Although all major muscle groups are worked in Pilates particular attention is given to the "core" muscles of the torso so its the ideal program for anyone suffering from back problems that may rule out other forms of exercise. By working at your own level you will begin to gain a greater understanding of your bodys strengths and weaknesses. You can work your body parts together in synchronisation helping your muscles become longer and leaner. What experience or skills do I need to join this course? All levels of ability welcome no previous experience necessary as exercises can be adapted to suit you.What is the course about? To improve flexibility and mobility develop core strength and stability strengthen and tone muscles (including the back and abdominal muscles) develop joint stability balance posture and the ability to relax. For the first session you will need: Loose comfortable clothing suitable for exercise A non-slip mat and water or a soft drink A pen for completing paperwork Glasses if you need them for reading / writing You will need to complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire prior to exercise Additional costs and/or resources: Your tutor may recommend a Yoga/Pilates block or weights How will I know how I am getting on? Observation and feedback to you by the tutor Discussion Self-assessment using your Personal Learning Record Accreditation: N/A
