You will learn how to make a delicious sponge cake, fruit cake and cupcakes. Then you will master professional decorating techniques. Cost of materials throughout the course will be approximately £20Learners will need to purchase the materials to make and decorate the cakes . The use of specialist tools to decorate the cakes will be kept to a minimum and wherever possible everyday items, will be utilised to create the decorations.Learners are asked to bring a small quantity of sugarpaste/ready rolled icing (100 g ) to the first session together with an apron, note pad and pen. The list of items for the following weeks will be handed out at the end of each session.The sessions will be demonstration led with plenty of opportunities for the learners to practice the techniques, including baking their cakes.Learners will be required to bake their rich fruit cakes at home due to time restrictions.Please note that we will be using marzipan so those will a nut allergy will need to advise the tutor of this to ensure they avoid contact with marzipan.
