This programme is ideal for those looking for a career change to the horticultural industry, or access to Higher Education. Areas of Study Horticultural skills, estate skills, plant and soil science, garden design, machinery, turf establishment and maintenance, landscape construction, decorative horticulture, plant use and knowledge, surveying, investigative project, business accounting and management. Work Placements You will begin your placement in July of your first year and complete by the end of October. Alternatively this can also be completed between September and end of July. The College has links with a network of employers, providing placement opportunities within all sectors of the horticultural industry. Method of Assessment Each unit studied comprises of four learning outcomes with pass, merit and distinction for each outcome. These are assessed using a wide variety of methods including practical observation, orals, multiple choice questions, written assessments, open book exams and formal written assessments. After Completion of Your Course... A top-up programme to achieve an Extended Diploma, or progress to a higher level qualification such as a degree in Horticulture, or work as a skilled horticulturist working for an organisation or in self-employment.
