Please refer to our website http://www.writtle.ac.uk for a summary of Level 3 Extended Diploma in Countryside Management About the Course This course is designed to prepare you for employment or further study in areas such as conservation, ground maintenance and management, leisure and tourism, agriculture or forestry. Areas of Study Land Use, Identification of Organisms, Estate Skills, Greenwood Crafts, Environmental Interpretation, Tourism, Woodland Ecology, Coastal Management and the Management of a Range of Habitats. Work Placements This is undertaken on two days per week for the whole two year programme. The College has contacts with a wide variety of work placement providers, examples being Local Authority parks and RSPB Nature Reserves. Assistance will be provided to locate a suitable work placement for the Industry Experience unit. Method of Assessment Each unit studied comprises of four learning outcomes with pass, merit and distinction for each outcome. These are assessed using a wide variety of methods including practical observation, orals, multiple choice questions, written assessments, open book exams and formal written assessments. The first year units must be passed before students are allowed to progress to the second.
