Make do and mend

This course will cover skills and techniques essential in dressmaking. Lots of skills will be covered including replacing zips, adjusting hems and darts, using old or charity shop garments to reinvent or create new garments.

Entry requirements

We have Janome sewing machines for you to use in our workshop. Please bring some fabric scraps and thread with you to practise. A basic sewing kit will be required. Needles, threads, fabric scissors, paper scissors, embroidery scissors, a stitch ripper, pins in a pin cushion, a tape measure. Please store all items in a tin or box. You will need some garments to work on - please speak to the tutor during the first session if you aren't sure. Will I need to do anything in my own time? To get the most out of this course, you may need to finish work started in class each week ready for the following week.
