BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology This course develops your skills in music production and audio engineering. You will explore midi sequencing, sound effects and music for the moving image, the recording of many instruments in a studio, how music can be marketed and sold and how to mix live music at performances. You will complete a range of units including: Music Production Techniques Sequencing Systems And Techniques Delivering A Music Product Music And Sound For Moving Image Marketing And Promotion In The Music Industry Live Sound Techniques. Assessment is ongoing throughout the course. You will have written and practical assignments to complete. Most of your units will culminate in musical products such as CD's and streamed audio. Progression If you go to university or college you could take a degree or a BTEC Higher National in subjects such as: Music Popular Music Music Technology Music Management Some students go into employment and work in some of the following areas: Performance Music Production Music Business In addition, we offer academic support workshops each week. These sessions will focus on aspects of your learning to help you to achieve the top grades in this subject, whilst also giving you opportunities to develop essential employability skills to support your progression at the next level. At the start of the course, you will be set short, frequent homework tasks. As time goes on, we expect you to take more responsibility for your own learning, and cope with less frequent, but longer pieces of work. We will expect you to complete focused assignments; make structured notes on specific topics; research an area for yourself. As part of your course you will be given the opportunity to attend trips and visits that will allow you to extend your understanding beyond the classroom. We also offer instrument lessons, song writing workshops and studio time.
