The course lasts for two years. Students spend two days every week on placements in the following settings: nursery school, infant school, private nurseries and special needs schools and units. In the Sixth Form students study a variety of child-related subjects including Communication with Children and Adults, Child Development, Child Protection, Child Health, Sociology and so on. Whilst on placement students produce an extensive portfolio of work including child observations and activity plans. They are regularly visited and well supported on placement by the two experienced tutors. One of the highlights of the course is a residential multi-cultural trip to Bradford at the end of their first year which has proved very beneficial and interesting to previous students.
