You'd be surprised at just how much of today's most exciting and innovative technology comes from people who have completed a manufacturing or engineering Apprenticeship! This course is for students who want to become refrigeration/air conditioning engineers in the building services engineering sector. You will gain a sound understanding of the principles, procedures and technologies of modern ventilation and air conditioning systems in industrial and commercial settings. This programme begins with an overview of pre-technical and industrial skills all mechanics need to perform their everyday tasks: basic and industrial math, measurements, safety, and tool fundamentals. Students then progress into the specifics of refrigeration principles, heating, plumbing, pipefitting and maintenance. The course involves safe working practices and scientific principles within mechanical engineering ventilation systems. You will learn: HVAC fundamentals Pipe joining techniques Basic thermo-dynamic principles Basic psychometrics Fans and air filtration Measuring Air volume and velocity The programme will include mandatory requirements of the Apprenticeship framework; an NVQ, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT.
