Drawing & Painting (Mixed Media)(Funded by Staffs County Council)

The course is suitable for Beginners, Intermediates and for those who wish to brush up on their drawing skills & water-based mediums. The Beginner Student: The Beginner course consists of three terms. Each term you will learn and be introduced to a medium. For example: Medium One: Introduction to Watercolours Medium Two: Draw Skills & Drawing Mediums (e.g. Graphite, Watercolour Pencils, Pen & ink). Medium Three: Introduction to Acrylics. Mediums will not necessarily be learnt in this order, but a selection will be learnt at a time and then you progress on to other mediums. This can be discussed with the student. You can learn about selected mediums that are of interest to you. Please Note: Not every medium has to be purchased or learnt. This helps to keep cost down. You will be shown how to develop and produce final pieces of art work from tests and sample work Intermediate Student: will build upon and develop their drawings and observational skills, including further developing their technical skills in drawing and water-based mediums. You will be encouraged to develop your ideas through project based work set or negotiated with the Tutor. The drawings and paintings produced can be realistic or abstracted. The Course will help give you the confidence to develop your creative skills. This is a structured course and it breaks down barriers between mediums. This is an enjoyable and relaxing course which can be extended into a pleasurable hobby. It can be tailored to suit your individual needs. You will learn about drawing, design skills and water-based Mediums. The course will give you the confidence to creatively explore a variety of mediums. You will develop drawing and observational skills through project based work. Contextual information on artists will support the learning of technical skills and processes. It will give you a good grounding of all technical skills in drawing, combined with water based and textural materials.
