Writing Books for Children

UPDATED 20161101 08:28:53

Thinking back on the books we read as children, what was it about these gems that whisked us away and sparked our imaginations? Students will take a leap through each stage of children's writing and reading, from picture books to YA. They will come out the other side with a portfolio of writing material and the beginning if not a whole novel to take away. Students will be assigned books to read with a theme in mind, and encouraged to attend as many literary/ author events as possible. Writing can be lonely work, and sometimes hard to share, so students will help line edit each other's writing and look at the overall arc of the story in a supporting workshopping group. By the end of the course students will have the opportunity for a one to one tutorial about their writing career.
