Biology A-level covers the following topics, and is similar to previous AS, A-Level courses run in previous years: Content: YEAR 1 and AS: 1.Biological molecules 2. Cells 3. Organisms exchange substances with their environment 4. Genetic information, variation and relationships between organisms YEAR 2 and A-Level: 5. Energy transfers in and between organisms 6. Organisms respond to changes in their internal and external environments 7. Genetics, populations, evolution and ecosystems 8. The control of gene expression The changes in assessment are as follows: AS Biology is one year long, with exams at the end. A-level Biology lasts two years, with exams at the end of the second year. Required practical content is tracked in school and approved through AQA.
