Art & Design (Fine Art)

UPDATED 20161031 14:16:20

Four units to be studied over a two year period; two coursework units and two controlled assignments. Students will explore a number of materials during the first term to give a firm basis in the techniques involved at A Level and will make use of all the materials that the department has at its disposal. The study of artists and crafts people will aid understanding of the art world which will be enhanced by a trip to a London art gallery. Written responses to such experiences will be of an A Level English format, requiring students to undertake several essays and written assignments throughout the course. Research and experimentation will culminate in the creation of a major final piece reflecting the journey they have taken through their assignment. At the end of each year, students will hold an exhibition open to the public.
