This Advanced Apprenticeship enables you to work within schools supporting the delivery of physical education and sport. In this apprenticeship you will learn how to communicate with children and young people, how to conduct yourself professionally at all times, how to safeguard and support the development of children and young people including those gifted and talented. You will also learn how to plan, deliver and review physical education and school sports programmes. The apprenticeship is made up of various components including a portfolio to demonstrate evidence of competence in the role, practical assessments of performance and some exams. For those who do not have GCSE grade C English and Maths you will also get the opportunity to undertake these subjects as a functional skill.

The knowledge qualification will involve exams. Functional Skills will be delivered in localised training hubs in order to prepare learners for examinations unless they are exempt. Employment Rights and Responsibilities will be covered through an independent qualification. Personal Learning and Thinking Skills will be embedded within the mandatory units of the NVQ.
