This course provides a sound understanding of central aspects of sociological thought and methods and the opportunity to develop a range of skills. It allows the integration of sociological themes, such as socialisation, culture and identity and social differentiation, power and stratification. A key aim of sociology is to encourage students to develop a critical awareness of society. Students will follow a programme which combines class teaching with small group work, discussion, video material, IT and research projects.
