ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of 5 A* - C at GCSE (or equivalent) including English and either GCSE PE or a BTEC Level 2 First Award in Sport (Distinction or higher). Context This national extended certificate offers a specialist qualification that focuses on key knowledge and practical skills that are required in the appropriate vocational sector. It offers an engaging programme for those who are clear about the area of employment they wish to enter. It is equivalent to one A-level, and the programme can be developed to allow learners to study complementary qualifications without duplication of content. What you will study The course is allocated 6 lessons per week, where you will study the following 4 units across years 12 and 13: Unit 1 Anatomy & Physiology Unit 2 Fitness Training & Programming for Heath, Sport & Well-being Unit 3 Professional Development in the Sports Industry Unit 4 Sports Leadership How You Will Be Assessed The new BTEC Nationals use a combination of assessment styles - both practical and written. There are two 90 minute written exams, applied tasks set and marked by the Board and the remaining units are internally assessed by your teacher.
