If you enjoyed Chemistry at GCSE, you'll love A/AS level Chemistry. Chemistry at A Level helps students develop a number of skills: how to assemble data and assess it, how to investigate facts and use deduction, how to put over your point of view fluently, how to work as a team to achieve results. Students with a wide range of interests enjoy chemistry, and it is a solid platform upon which careers are built. Chemistry is a great choice of subject for people who want a career in health and clinical professions, such as medicine, nursing, biochemistry, dentistry or forensic science. It will also equip you for a career in industry, for example in the petrochemical or pharmaceutical industries. TOPICS STUDIED: For the A2 assessment, students develop further the concepts and principles introduced at AS through topics including equilibria, polymers, aromatic chemistry, thermodynamics, energetic chemistry and inorganic chemistry. ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE: Paper 1: Kinetics, Equilibria and Organic Chemistry - 20% of the total A-level marks Paper 2: Energetics, Redox and Inorganic Chemistry - 20% of the total A-level marks Internal Assessment Investigative and practical skills in A2 Chemistry Practical Skills Assessment.
