This Charcoal and Pastels for Beginners course will focus on continuing to develop charcoal and pastels techniques whilst continuing also to enhance your understanding and skills of the medium through specific subject matter., , You will further develop your skills by completing a selection of specific projects and subjects matter., , Students should have completed a charcoal or pastel course previously or have some basic and drawing experience. You are also advised to bring own art materials and sketchbook size A3/A4 appropriate to pastels and charcoal medium. Your tutor will be able to advice on any specific material, which is relevant to the course during the first lesson. , , By the end of this course you should be able to:, 1. Demonstrate charcoal and pastels techniques and skills through artwork, 2. Demonstrate awareness of good use of equipment and resources, 3. Demonstrate awareness and successful use of techniques and skills through completion of artwork relevant to specific subject, 4. Evaluate your own work and contribute to other students' evaluation of their work, 5. Demonstrate awareness of working in accordance to relevant Health and Safety guidelines, All levels of students interested in understanding and improving their sketching techniques for Art and Craft projects. It is important to note that Art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another adult please ask to speak to the Programme Manager before you enrol.

However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of graded pencils HB - 6B. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Some of our centres have their own 'shops' where you are able to buy things at competitive prices. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
