Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Light) Advanced Apprenticeship

There is a high demand for skilled qualified technicians. This qualification covers activities relating to service technicians in the majority of garages, maintenance depots and dealers. The candidate can choose whether to work with light vehicles or heavy vehicles (Cars or Lorries). The Apprentice will complete the following: •Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 3 Functional Skills Level 2 in: •Mathematics •English •ICT •Employees Rights and Responsibilities and Personal Learning and thinking skills (if not completed at Level 2) The programme is broken down into eight units and all candidates must cover the following units: •Ensure your own actions reduce risks to Health and Safety •Maintain positive working relationships •Diagnose and rectify engine unit and component faults •Diagnose and rectify electrical auxiliary unit and component faults •Diagnose and rectify vehicle chasses unit and component faults The one remaining optional unit will be chosen to suit your business needs and can include: •Inspect vehicles •Overhaul mechanical units The training will take place at both your place of work and at the College. You will need to attend college for six one week block periods per year, a total of thirty days per year.
