The course will enable the student to cope in everyday situations in a German speaking country. Eight or more topics will be introduced including: shopping, ordering food & drinks and asking directions. You will practise by listening, reading and undertaking role play exercises; some games will be included. A course book will be used and some homework set between classes to help students get the most out of the course. You will be able to converse in simple terms, and cope with everyday situations such as asking the way, shopping, changing money, ordering snacks and drinks, asking for tourist information, booking into hotels, daily routine. Basic grammar will be covered as it arises. A College Certificate will be awarded on request.You will learn by participation, either interaction between teacher and student or through group work, pair work or role play, games etc. The four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing will be covered, but with the emphasis on speaking and listening. Students may progress to German Year 2.
