A2 Unit 3 - Critical Perspectives (25% of A Level grade) Students will be given two pre-set topic areas for study throughout the year. The first two topic areas will be ideologies in the media and the impact of new/digital media. The examination consists of two parts: three compulsory questions based around unseen stimulus materials and one essay question based on the pre-set topics. (Two-hour written examination.) Unit 4 - Media: Research and Production (25% of A Level grade) This is a synoptic unit in which students will be expected to investigate a particular media theme or text in more detail. They will research and produce a critical investigation as well as an actual production piece linked to their investigation. Assessment • students complete two units for AS and two units for A2 • assessment involves written examinations in units 1 and 3 • unit 2 and unit 4 involve coursework
