The geography course follows an issues to impacts to responses theme throughout. It has a developmental structure designed to facilitate progression through the course and beyond to link with the demands of higher level study. Concepts covered at GCSE may be revisited at A Level, but not repeated. Unit 1 Physical Geography includes water and carbon cycles, hot desert environments and their margins, and environmental hazards. Unit 2 Human Geography includes global systems and global governance, changing places, and contemporary urban environment. Unit 3 Coursework entails the completion of an individual investigation which must include data collected in the field. The individual investigation will be based on a question or issue defined and developed by the student relating to any part of the specification content. While this is not finalised yet, data for this may be collected as part of a department field trip to Dorset.
