Entry 3 Award In ESOL Skills for Life (reading)

This course is for adults of any age who live, temporarily or permanently, in this country and do not have English as a first language. This is a 10 week course which leads to an Entry Level 3 ESOL exam in Reading. The lessons will be 2¾ hours on two days a week. Courses will not run on Bank Holidays or Staff Development days. This course will cover the following topics:• Leisure Activities• Food and Drink• Holidays• Jobs• Homes • Health• Travel and transport • Places to stay / visiting places• Reading Skills • Read a variety of texts including: web pages, e-mails, leaflets, formal and informal letters, short stories and narratives, reports and articles

You can use the College website (e-study) to help you learn English using our exercises, games and quizzes for your level. There will be exam practice during the course to help you prepare for the Reading exam. You will also have an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) with your own learning targets to help you focus on parts of reading which you find particularly difficult. Entry requirements

You need: • An English - English dictionary• A pen and paper for class work.• The internet to help you do work on your ownThe fee will include exam costs. If the College cancels courses, the fees you paid will be refunded. If you cancel your course, you will get a refund but you will have to pay an administration fee. If you get Jobseeker's Allowance or Employment Support Allowance (Work Related Activity Group only), Universal Credit (because of unemployment and are mandated to undertake skills training) or another state benefit and are currently unemployed, you may be eligible to full fee remission for this course.
